about
“After All”, the first single from songwriter Ben O’Neill’s Light Vol 1 is a meditation, sincere and transparent, on the challenges common to the human experience. Acoustic, revealing and heartfelt, After All gives us a moment to reconsider where we are, what we’ve come through and how we can move forward with hope and love.
The road of life is a turning path, through lush hills and desolate valleys, with blind corners, unknown plateaus and familiar wildernesses. We meet with questions, temptations, failures and, maybe, just maybe, a chance at redemption. “After All” opens the possibility of looking past the bumps, to the beauty; the chance to begin again.
lyrics
After All
Just keep on pushing, you’re almost there,
You’re almost there
Just count the greys on your head
As one piece of evidence that life ain’t fair
‘Cause if was you’d already be dead
Yeah, if it was you’d already be dead
If I had a nickel for ever time I messed up
Every time I messed up
You know I’d be high on the hog
But it just don’t matter how good you’re dressed up
Life run you down like a dog
Yeah, she’ll run you down
We’ve all chosen wrong ‘cause it pleased us
Somehow, afterwords second chances come
Makes me think maybe there’s something ‘bout Jesus
After all, after the fall
After it’s all said and done
Three hundred miles, straight into the wild
Straight into the wild
Just to find out where you’re from
And once you arrive, if you survive
Your choice is the shovel or the gun
Your choice is the shovel or the gun
We’ve all chosen right, though it grieved us
Somehow, afterwords second chances come
Makes me think maybe there’s something ‘bout Jesus
After all, after the fall
After it’s all said and done.
The glittering lights will deceive us
But afterwords second chances come
Makes me think maybe there’s something ‘bout Jesus
After all, after the fall
After it’s all said and done

My name is Ben O'Neill. Music is my life's focus. That takes many forms, from being a sideman to John Legend, Jill Scott and others, to being a teacher at The University of the Arts, to creating my own music to share with you.
I love collaborating with my old friend, RVLVR. It's always an unexpected journey and I think it's some of the very best music I've been a part of! Ben O'Neill
The Mini Qs is my Soul/Jazz organ trio w/ Luke O'Reilly and Anwar Marshall. The Qs have been a part of my life a long time and it's a space I'm completely at home in. I hope you enjoy it, too! Ben O'Neill
